Spontaneous Intonation - Thollem/Modirzadeh Duo

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012   8 p.m.

Berkeley Arts - 2133 University Avenue Berkeley

walking distance from downtown Berkeley BART

Thollem has been a peripatetic musician for many years now, collaborating with famous and underknown musicians from wildly diverse walks of musical life in the States, Mexico and Europe. Hafez gave Thollem a tuning hammer for the very purpose of exploring more personalized temperaments, liberating the piano from the constraints of not only equal temperament but also pre-conceived intonation. Thollem will be re-tuning the piano in real-time, creating a spontaneous intonation that will be evolving throughout the course of their performance.
